The Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is backing 22 sitting state lawmakers and 6 candidates for the Legislature now competing in Major contests throughout the state.
The endorsements included candidates from each side of the political aisle.
“We didn’t endorse a candidate in each Major, though we could subject extra endorsements sooner or later, together with each Major and Normal Election campaigns,” Chamber President Julio Fuentes stated in an announcement. “We stay up for working with the candidates and to a profitable marketing campaign season.”
The entire group’s endorsements for the Senate went to present officeholders. Recipients included Republican Sens. Jim Boyd, Doug Broxson, Jason Brodeur, Joe Gruters, Travis Hutson and Jay Trumbull, Senate Democratic Chief Lauren E-book, and Democratic Sens. Kamia Brown, Tracie Davis and Shevrin Jones.
Within the Home, the Chamber is supporting Republican Reps. Alex Andrade, Mike Caruso, Chuck Clemons, Juan Fernandez-Barquin, Fred Hawkins, Ralph Massullo, Lawrence McClure, Jim Mooney, Bobby Payne, Michelle Salzman, David Smith and Josie Tomkow.
All however one unelected candidate vying for workplace to obtain the chamber’s endorsement is a member of the GOP, together with Karen Gonzalez Pittman in Home District 65, Tiffany Esposito in Home District 77 and Vicki Lopez in Home District 113.
Home District 36 candidate Rachel Plakon and Home District 37 candidate Susan Plasencia — the spouse and sister, respectively, of sitting Reps. Scott Plakon and Rene Plasencia — additionally acquired nods.
Former Bay Harbor Islands Mayor Jordan Leonard, who’s working for Home District 106, was the one Democratic candidate for the Legislature’s decrease chamber to earn the chamber’s blessing.
The Major Election is on Aug. 23, adopted by the Normal Election on Nov. 8.
