Commerce provides to management workforce

OLYMPIA, WA — Washington Division of Commerce Director Lisa Brown not too long ago introduced two new appointments to key management roles within the rising state company. Veteran journalist Liz Rocca joins Commerce’s Govt Management workforce as Communications Director. Within the division’s Workplace of Financial Improvement and Competitiveness, former Port of Seattle Commissioner Stephanie Bowman is serving as Governor’s Maritime Trade Sector Lead.

Rocca joins Commerce from the King County Sheriff’s Workplace (KCSO), the place she served as Chief of Workers and Media Relations Supervisor. Along with her function as a strategic and coverage adviser, she managed all inner and exterior communications initiatives, and served as a liaison with the King County Council, Govt’s Workplace and Workplace of Regulation Enforcement Oversight. Her management in exterior relations with key stakeholders and companions together with elected officers and employees, metropolis managers, neighborhood teams and underserved communities, was instrumental in restoring integrity and transparency to the KCSO’s communications with the information media and the general public.

Rocca can also be an award-winning journalist, with deep credentials as a reporter and newsroom supervisor, together with with Seattle tv stations KIRO, KCPQ and KOMO. Rocca holds a Bachelor of Science diploma from Weber State College and a Grasp’s from San Francisco State College, each in political science.

Bowman is Commerce’s new Maritime Trade Sector Lead, accountable for growing and implementing state insurance policies that assist the sustainability and growth of the maritime business in Washington. She works intently with the breadth of maritime companies, supporting worldwide commerce and transport, Washington state export companies, the industrial fishing business and leisure boating.

Previous to this function, Bowman served for eight years as a commissioner for the Port of Seattle, the place she led the trouble to mix the marine cargo operations of the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma, leading to formation of the NW Seaport Alliance, ending greater than 80 years of competitors between the 2 gateways.
